Petite Portrait: Meet Sadie Kurzban

Sadie Kurzban (5’1”) is the founder of ((305)) Fitness, the buzzworthy studio famous for its Miami-inspired dance cardio classes. ((305)) Fitness has its roots at Brown University, Sadie’s alma mater. There, Sadie’s Zumba classes amassed a loyal following. Senior year, she entered Brown’s business plan competition to pitch ((305)) Fitness to the judges. As you probably guessed - she won!

Sadie is both grounded and upbeat, easy-going and driven. She owes her loud mouth and sense of humor to her upbringing in a half-Jewish, half-Cuban household. When Sadie teaches classes at her studio, she’s all about liberation; she’ll push you to your limit so you can unleash your inner beast. Sadie has been featured in numerous outlets including Good Morning America, the Today show, Inc, Cosmopolitan, Refinery29, The Washington Post, and the New York Observer for her unique ability to turn painful workouts into sheer bliss. Let’s get to know this self-proclaimed “pint-sized” “party starter” who can teach us a thing or two on how to #MakeSweatSexy.

Favorite class to teach at ((305)) Fitness: 305 Advanced: a 58-minute, full-body dance cardio workout with lots of fancy footwork.

I’m inspired by: My feminist parents! They’re total out-of-the-box thinkers. They taught me it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Someone I look up to: My grandmothers.

 A mantra I live by: You’ll never know if you never try!

One cause I’m interested in: Feminism, particularly how we get more female political representation.

My day-to-day involves: I wake up early. I start with email and organizing my to-do lists. I like to work out in the morning and I usually take a class at one of our studios. I eat a big brunch (best meal of the day). Most of my day is spent in meetings with my team or external partners, investors, and junkies. I find I work 7 days a week, nearly 24 hours/day, so it means I try to find moments in the day for myself, like a trip to the grocery store, acupuncture, or whatever I can get in! I cook at home, wrap up work by 10:30pm, and am asleep by 11!

My advice to aspiring female entrepreneurs: Focus on your strengths, not your flaws.

Three words that describe my personal style: Quirky, sexy, spontaneous

Go-to workout outfit: Booty shorts, a sports bra, and a mesh top. Obviously anything from 305 Active!

When I’m not working out, I’m: Cooking! I love to cook. It’s my therapy!

Something on my bucket list: I’d love to learn how to play the piano. I learned as a kid, but I forgot it all! I’d love to go back and study music!

Where you’ll find me next: Traveling for work. I’m always on the Amtrak to DC or Boston or flying to LA, where we have a pop-up.
