Kimiko De Pedro (5’0”) is a food, life + style blogger who is passionate about sharing her favorite San Francisco gems with locals and visitors alike.
She is a Bay Area Native that graduated with a BS in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism from San Francisco State University. Her storytelling flourished as a Park Ranger, where she connected people from all over the world with the beautiful Bay Area National Parks for over 3 years. Now, she stays involved as an active member of the Parks Conservancy's Event Advisory Committee.
Kimiko's love for exploration remains constant and she continues to encourage her readers to adopt adventure into their daily lives. Through her blog, she has partnered with a variety of local businesses and organizations like Oakland Unified School District, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Hype App, and EscapeSF. She uses her platform as a trusted local guide: not only for the outdoors, but to cover the best eats, fun experiences and documents her style diary along the way. Let’s get to know this adventurous, #PowerfullyPetite lady!
Hometown: Antioch, CA
Current location: San Francisco, CA
My favorite place in San Francisco: Any of the spots in Golden Gate National Recreation Area, especially taking an easy stroll to Land’s End.
Birth sign: Gemini
I started blogging because: Writing and photography has always been my favorite mediums to express myself. My blog has taken many forms since the days of Xanga, and I love that after all these years, it’s still a chance for me to wear my heart on my sleeve and connect with others through story.
My day-to-day usually looks this: On weekdays: I wake up, take my dogs out in the morning, and do my makeup during my commute. (I’ve become a pro at winged eyeliner on MUNI). Currently, I’m working on internal comms & projects in tech, and I spend most of my day in SoMa. After work, I’ll squeeze in a HIIT workout and spend the rest of the evening working on my blog, while enjoying the company of my boyfriend and our two pups.
On weekends: You can find me attending local events, exploring the city and having brunch with friends. If I’m feeling overwhelmed from the week, I’ll take time at home to bask in self-care instead.
One of my goals this year: Continue to learn, practice and improve my food photography! It’s a lot harder than it looks, but it’s so much fun because there’s always new skills that challenge me to grow.
Someone I look up to: The first creative that always comes to mind when I’m asked this question is @heyclaire. Between her badass personal style, raw storytelling and her unique videos, she’s always been someone who continues to inspire me to own my story and be unapologetically myself.
Three words that describe my personal style: city sleek + chic
Outfit that makes me feel most confident: When I’m having one of those “I have nothing to wear” moments, I can never go wrong with my go-to “uniform”. It’s usually involves a leather jacket, a good pair of high-waisted skinny pants, sleek hair and high heel boots.
First thing I do when you wake up: Press snooze a few times before actually getting up. ;D
My perfect weekend: Waking up with the sun, getting ready on my own time, enjoying the company of my loved ones over a table of yummy food, then getting in my creative space and going after my big ideas. Then repeat the next day!
My favorite food/restaurant: Honestly, I crave different things all the time! If I’m craving sushi or mochi, I’ll make my way to Japantown. If I’m craving a tropics-inspired brunch, Palm House it is. If I’m up for cozy coffeehouse vibes, Home Cafe in the Outer Sunset is where I’m at. That’s the beauty of San Francisco... there are so many opportunities to try new places and it makes it difficult to narrow it down to just one.
My favorite park/hike: Muir Woods National Monument, no doubt. It’s one of the most serene places to bask in nature and a perfect escape from the busy city. I love bringing a friend or two to get some fresh air to reflect and recharge.
Best self-care tip I’ve gotten: That self-care isn’t all candles and bath bombs. Self-care is extremely personal to you. It’s what fills your soul and makes you feel whole. Sure, sometimes candles are nice... but for me, mostly it’s a favorite playlist, a slice of hawaiian bbq chicken pizza or cuddling my dogs.
Where you’ll find me next: Exploring all the neighborhoods for more hidden gems! Find out where I’m off to next on instagram or on the blog!
